Leadership

Our group was founded by Executives of 10 Canadian university Minecraft Clubs. Since then, we have expanded to include other talented individuals from across the world. Get to know some of our team!

Devon Yanitski / devon7y

Devon is the founder and former president of the University of Alberta Minecraft Club and a co-founder of the Cross-Collegiate Minecraft League. At the 2CML, he manages event planning, brand strategy, marketing, and club outreach. As the founder of the UofA Minecraft Club, Devon wrote the club constitution and made the club financially stable through grants, sponsorships, and member donations. He also managed the survival multiplayer (SMP) server and established the Campus server, which is a multi-year project tasked with reconstructing the University of Alberta campus in Minecraft. Having extensive experience with marketing, Devon created a cohesive brand and marketing strategy for the UofA Minecraft Club, resulting in it becoming the largest Student Group at the University of Alberta, gaining over 1,000 members in less than one year. The club is now self-sufficient and is run by an annually elected Executive Team. Devon also leads the Event Planning and Personal Development (EPPD) committee at the University of Alberta Campus Food Bank and manages volunteers in the Food Bank's Grocery Program. He also adjudicated Student Group grant applications for the University of Alberta Students' Union. Devon occasionally works with a number of volunteer-based Student Groups as well. In his free time, he loves to play video games with his friends, write piano arrangements, and is a full-time undergraduate student at the University of Alberta.

Kevin Yu / keroia

Hailing from the University of British Columbia, Kevin is a current executive for the UBC Minecraft Club, accepting his position in December 2023. One of the founding members of the 2CML, Kevin has primarily managed registrations, planning, and moderation of events throughout its history. For Spud Showdown 2024, Kevin ran the registration team, using a multitude of tools to verify the participants and to form the teams for the event. Kevin has also managed customer service, answering any questions or concerns related to any event that was currently running. Kevin's currently a 4th year student, majoring in Statistics with a Minor in Data Science. Kevin's also a member of the UBC Sciences Co-op program, having done internships within the Public Service of Canada. Kevin's also a current executive for the UBC Mahjong Club, accepting the position in February 2024. In his free time, Kevin is a die-hard Vancouver Canucks fan, enjoys playing Mahjong, plays video games with friends, going to concerts, and listening to music.

Nikki / UltraNikkiPanda

Nikki is the current president of QUCraft, a Minecraft club from Queen's University. Her leadership role at 2CML consists of assisting with IT and events which includes game design, plugin development, and playtesting. Nikki is in her fourth year of computer engineering at Queen's University. When she isn't studying, Nikki enjoys playing board games, video games, or spending time with friends. Madeline Hart / hoesmadeline

Madeline is the co-founder and current president of MUNCraft, Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Minecraft Club. At the 2CML, she is involved with planning, coordinating, and executing large-scale virtual events. As the co-founder and president of MUNCraft, she manages a forum to provide a safe space for individuals interested in playing Minecraft to connect, which was especially impactful during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is also the founder of the original university Minecraft realm, which has since become a thriving multiplayer server! This role also involves planning weekly online game night events for group members. Madeline is adept in developing and running new and engaging events, as well as organizing real-life meetups for members. Outside of MUNCraft, she is a full-time Geography and Mathematics student at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. She can most often be found either working on her honours thesis, in which she is researching biodiversity conservation policy in NL, or out in the woods working as a field lab assistant.

Daniel Vette / ERROR

Current Admin of the University of Victoria Minecraft Club. Co-founder of 2CML and has been hosting intercollegiate Minecraft events since 2022. He is currently finishing his Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Victoria.

Kelly / MusyKell

Kelly is a third-year astrophysics student working with the Cross-Collegiate Minecraft League in video editing and production.

Ilya / Cat6172

Ilya is a 4th year CS Honors student at the University of Alberta. He is an executive for the UofA Minecraft Club, where he keeps the servers running and develops custom plugins. At 2CML, Ilya helps in a variety of tasks, focusing on technical aspects of designing and testing the events, maintaining the website, and making custom builds. In his free time, he plays games, guitar, goes rock climbing, and learns to draw.

Christian. F / SkyLegoMan

Christian is a 2nd year Computer Science student at Queen's University. He primarily assists in building custom maps for the various events. When he's not focused on academics, Christian is either developing his own card game, improving his creative writing and programming skills, or playing games with friends.

VestedClover

VestedClover is a slightly competitive person who's great at breaking games in lots of ways before we release them, so you can't break them as easily. He designs redstone and commands where he can and is a third year Mechanical Engineering student.

Ananya. K / Valynx_the_Elf

Ananya (also known as Val) is a 2nd year student at Queens University working on her Bachelors of Computer Science, and has been part of 2CML leadership team since 2023. She is part of the QUCraft Minecraft Community, and is often seen building and chatting on the server. Her leadership role in 2CML is assisting in game and event development, covering Minecraft map building/setup, game design, playtesting, event planning, and promotional material. She manages creating the promotional posters since Interplanetary Bingo and any assets needed for the events such as graphics, textures, skins and models. Her work has experimented and pushed boundaries with the visuals of 2CML's final designs while keeping in touch with the core elements of the league. This resulted in a steady increase of player traction. Outside of Minecraft Ananya likes to create digital art, videogames, listen to music and breakdown animation in her free time. Thomas D. / Space Invader

Thomas is a fourth year biochemistry honours student at the University of Alberta. Joining in 2024, Thomas has helped with map building, small-scale code implementation, event moderation and game design. Outside of classes and 2cml, Thomas volunteers as the External Relations Exec of the UofA Minecraft Club, plays online games with friends, and enjoys learning about space, science, and modern (post Napoleonic era) history!

Ethan Wei / IonTech

Ethan is a third-year business student who's learning the business to get out of the business. Actually wants to learn programming, project management and financial skills to start his own game development studio. (While making bank.)
